HOWEVER, I whipped up this flyer for my long-time clients turned buddies, Remember Paris. They were calling their homecoming show HOMETOWN THROWDOWN, and wanted an epic, colorful, overall killer flyer to promote with. I put this together in close to no time all, and it still kicks ass. I’m especially stoked on how well the event title and their band name worked out. It was just meant to be, I suppose.

The band photo is courtesy of Bill Whitmire for New Trigger Media Group, — my creative group.

Black Canvas was kind enough to have me work on the packaging for their new five song EP!! Even better, they gave me a lot of creative freedom, with a couple of vague ideas, sample images they liked, and a particular mood to convey. I made a couple of proposals, all of which I was super stoked o. This is one of the most photo-based packages I’ve ever created, and also one of my favorites. The effects/retouching I added worked out great, but most of all, I am EXTREMELY happy with how the type laid out, and how well the subtle blur worked out. And as if all of that didn’t work out great, the record itself is seriously AWESOME!!!

Personally, I am absolutely in love with the final results of the photo on back. I didn’t take the original, just did the editing on it.

Bonus: The EP itself is awesome! One of my favorite local bands/releases in a long time! Wrapping up art for a follow-up EP for another of my favorite locals too… can’t wait to get that up here as well!

I did a sort-of impromptu photo shoot for a friend of mine who is also a great designer, an even better illustrator, and to top it off, he’s a DJ… a real DJ, not just a dude who spins his favorite Girl Talk tracks at a hipster joint in Wicker Park and the occasional PBR-saturated house party… I should point out that I mean no offense, so that you don’t call me a hypocrite when you catch me gettin’ down at Empire Liquors with some PBR in-hand haha.

Anyways, here are a couple of the final edits from the shoot that I particularly liked. I’m definitely not the best shooter for this type of stuff, but I’m actually pretty happy with the outcome. I don’t think we actually got the shot we were going for, but nothing says we can’t try again.

Since last fall, I have been working on a top secret promotional product. I was hoping to have it finished in time for a music and art show that New Trigger Media had sponsored, but didn’t wrap it up in time. Since then, I’ve been holding it for the perfect time to release it, and with all the great support I’ve been receiving lately for my submission for Go Media’s Weapons of Mass Creation Fest, I’ve decided now is a great time to unveil it, as I intend to get it in the hands of as many friends and fans that I can! I’m really proud of this piece! Stickers are cool, but everyone does them, even if mine are kiss-cut sheets… shirts are great and easy since I have a screen-print shop, but again, very common… this cube-head figurine took a while to get right, but now that its finished, I’m super happy to share it with anyone who wants one! I’ll post the download link for it in May (2011).

I actually initially created this as a show flyer, but now have re-laid it out as a poster print, simply because even after a couple of years, I still absolutely love it, and want to create a more universally enjoyable print. I’m also posting the old show flyer below for comparison. The font on the flyer is called Grant, and is the first font I ever created myself, a couple of years ago.

The original drawings of the individual eyes were created by the always-awesome Rich Nosworthy. While this print is available in the store, I’d like to point out that because the inspiration came from the original couple of eyes Rich Nosworthy created, I won’t be trying to make a profit off of it, as much as just trying to share it with the public, so it will be cheap!

And to Rich, should you ever happen across this page and this show poster’s existence: Thank you for being a great source of inspiration and motivation. I hope you enjoy this piece, and if you would like a copy of either version, please don’t hesitate to email me!
